Hiked September 10, 2005 by Valerie
Conditions: This is the first and only hike that I've ever done alone. Tim and his dad were on their way up Mt Washington. I had a few hours to kill before I had to meet them at the top (via the Auto-Road, for me) for lunch.
I found the woods really creepy when I was alone out there. I never worry about the sound of a stick breaking when Tim and I are hiking together. In this case, it was *so quiet* and I was *so alone*, it was rather nerve-wracking.
It was almost a relief to get to the last, maybe, 2/10's of a mile when it got really steep and I had to concentrate. Once I was on the ledge, I felt much better. Sitting down to enjoy the beautiful fall morning with a granola bar and (I hate to say it) a cell phone call to my mom to tell her where I was and what I was doing.
Stats: short and sweet
