Hiked by: Tim and Valerie on July 16, 2007 - via Blueberry Ledge Trail
Conditions: It was a gorgeous day as we started out of the Ferncroft Rd parking lot. Lots of blue skies. Here's the goal for the day, off in the distance.
The hike in was great for the first couple miles, no issues at all. Tim got a picture of this thrush (Hermit?). Once we got onto the ledges, we just took our time and picked our way carefully. The views were incredible!! Passaconaway and Chocorua were beautiful!
We arrived at the "South Summit" and enjoyed the gorgeous views, but we needed to go to the TRUE summit, about 0.4 miles more (and of course, wooded). We hiked along for quite some time, until we were going down, down, down into a valley. We must have missed it! We started back up... eventually, we found a point where it appears that the cairn had been dismantled and tossed into the woods. So, we assume that we made it, but have no real information on that.
Stats for the day: 8.6 miles (including our little jaunt past the summit), no time recorded, but we spread out on the rocks and lay there for a long time.
