Falling Waters Trail

Hiked May 28, 2006 by Tim, Valerie and her sister's family - Larry, Debi, Heather and Will

Conditions:  Beautiful day for a walk!  The parking lot at Falling Waters trailhead is almost full when we arrive!  Our goal for the day is Cloudland Falls.  It's the third in the set of waterfalls up this trail.  Larry is a photographer, so we'll stop along the way so he can set up and take pictures with his "big wooden camera" that makes 4x5 negatives.

First stop is Stairs Falls.  The kids immediately want to just crawl down on the rocks and play in the water.  That's fine, it's going to be a warm enough day today.  Larry is setting up his shot.  Debi is taking pictures of the bubbles/foam under the waterfalls.  Tim and Val are just snapping photos of each other and the kids - snap, snap, snap.  I guess our theory is the same as all those monkeys on a million typewriters... if we just take enough pictures, some of them will be good. :-)

We blew by the second waterfalls.  Not really any good place to "play" in the water.  Slippery though, and very steep climbing.

When we reached Cloudland Falls, a couple things happened.  First, we all sat down in the mist and ate our lunch.  There were a lot of other people around.  We were in their pictures, I'm sure, just as they were in ours.  After lunch, Larry went again to set up his tripod and camera for the perfect shot.  Tim ventured off himself up Falling Waters trail to see what lay ahead.  Heather played in the water.  Will took a nap on the rocks.  Val and Debi just sat and chatted in the mist.

All-in-all, a very nice day.
