On the drive to Lochaven, we stayed at the Sunset Inn in North Bay. It was a great hotel and we could walk to dinner at Winnie's.

On Saturday morning, we arrived at Crane's. We settled into our cabin and then headed out to get some afternoon fishing in!

On Sunday, Eric was our guide for the day. Dad caught a good-sized bass, early in the day, but due to size, it had to go back. Eric caught the only "keeper" of the morning (THANK YOU ERIC!). He cooked us a delicious lunch of bass, potatoes, onions, summer sausage, and baked beans - with homemade chocolate chip cookies warmed on the fire for dessert. It was wonderful and it all happened in between rain showers. After lunch, the weather cleared off a bit and we saw blue skies. Valerie caught the biggest fish of the day - her first Northern Pike. A musky must have been after it because it had several big slash marks in it, and it was missing half its tail. It was a very fresh wound.
We saw a hawk (sharp-shinned, we think) and several bald eagles including two eaglets.
The next day was rather gray. We fished in the morning in the drizzle - chased out only when the thunder and lightning took over. Tim went back out in the PM, but Val just stayed warm in the cabin (was she sleeping or working on the laptop? No one will ever know)

It was a great trip as always! Just too short. It's such a long drive up, we need to stay longer!
